If I Was - Sampled Looped and Trigger Happy DVD

4 December 2004 - On 7 March 2005 Hypertension will release this DVD in Europe and the UK.
It will be accompanied by the release of a 'soundtrack CD' featuring a different show from the DVD.
Some extra features on this DVD are: a 40 minutes interview with Midge Ure and a 40 minutes 'on the road documentary'.
Hypertension are also planning a series of European acoustic shows to promote the DVD in March 2005.

There will also be an exclusive www.midgeure.com release of the DVD.
This features will have a different artwork and different extra features: a shortened interview, slightly different documentary and an 'after the show' section with backstage nonsense.
Both feature Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo soundtracks.
This will be available on the Here and Now dates but will not appear in the shop of www.midgeure.com until the New Year.


Band Aid: The Song that Rocked the World.

This Band Aid documentary will be again on television at the following dates:
Sunday 14 November at 20:00 on BBC Three
Monday 15 November at 01:00 on BBC Three
Saturday 20 November at 22:00 on BBC Two

Band Aid 3

The new Band Aid single "Do they Know it's Christmas" had been recorded today.
Some artists who are involved with Band Aid 3 are:
Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Dido, Peter Gabriel, Bono, Busted, Keane and of course Sir Bob Geldof en Midge Ure.
The Band Aid 3 single "Do they Know it's Christmas" will be released on 29 November 2004.

25 October 2004 - This Band Aid 20 years on documentary that Midge has been so heavily involved in this year, had been screened on 21 October on BBC3.
Close to Christmas there will be broadcast/s on BBC1 / BBC2.

Live Aid DVD

16 October 2004 - The biggest concert in Rock 'n' Roll history, Live Aid, will be released on DVD worldwide on 8 November 2004.

Band Aid single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'

20 years after it was recorded, the Band Aid single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' is to be released for the third time for famine relief.
This multimillion-selling No. 1 single from December 1984 will be in the shops again soon.
The new release will feature a remix of the original single on the A-side with the 1989 Band Aid II version on the B-side.

Geldof is not planning Live Aid II.

24 July 2004 - Bob Geldof has denied that he had teamed up with Bono for a second 'Live Aid' concert.
The Sun claimed British Prime Minister Tony Blair was backing the concert, with the bill to feature Radiohead, Coldplay, Oasis and Robbie Williams.
Bob Geldof said in a statement: "I told the Sun it was not true. This only serves to undermine the concerted efforts of those concerned with the tragedy of poverty in Africa." Bob Geldof added: "However, if the Prime Minister wants to organise a Live Aid II, then good luck to him."

Live Aid on DVD

Warner Vision International has announced that the Live Aid concert will be released on DVD worldwide on November 1st, 2004.
Warner Vision will release those unforgettable performances on a Live Aid, 4 DVD package.

Midge Ure's autobiography

15 May 2004 - 'If I Was', Midge Ure's autobiography is to be published on Oct 7th. There's a bucket load of press stuff being arranged for the month of October, including TV and Radio, and also a run of in-stores where it is envisaged that Midge Ure will perform a few songs, do a question and answer session, and then a book signing.

Band Aid Documentary

Midge Ure will be presenting a 1 hour special documentary about the making of the Band Aid single 'Do they know it's Christmas'. It will be screened in December.


John McGeoch died

15 March 2004 - Guitarist and songwriter John McGeoch died on 4 March 2004 at the age of 48 in London.
John McGeoch was the guitarist in a number of bands such as Magazine, Visage, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Public Image Limited.
After his Magazine-period John McGeoch played with Generation X and Visage, the band of Midge Ure and Steve Strange. In 1980 Visage had a European hit with "Fade to grey", written by Midge Ure. John McGeoch also played with Peter Murphy, Ultravox and drummer Rusty Egan.


Live Aid finally gets DVD release.

8 March 2004 - The organisers of Live Aid will auction the rights to release a first official Live Aid DVD. They are hoping to raise 'a few million pounds' for charity ('The Band Aid Trust') and are aiming for a Christmas sale.
Midge Ure and Bob Geldof organised Live Aid and the band Aid single 'Do They Know it's Christmas', in response to famine in Ethiopia, in which 1.2 million people starved to death in 1984 and 1985.
The Live Aid concert started in the Wembley Stadium in London with artists as Midge Ure with Ultravox, Bob Geldof, Phil Collins, David Bowie, Dire Straits, U2 and Queen.
The 16-hour music marathon was completed at Philadelphia's JFK Stadium with acts including Duran Duran, Paul Simon and Mick Jagger.

Gold Badge Award for Midge Ure 1 February 2004 - On 8 October 2003 Midge Ure received a Gold Badge Award. The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters present the Gold Badge awards annually to celebrate the achievements people who have made a special contribution to Britain's entertainment industry.
